Casper Stevenson aiming to end season on a high

Argenti Motorsport’s Casper Stevenson is aiming to end the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost season on a high at Brands Hatch this weekend [14-15 November].

Stevenson can still mathematically win the title on Finals Day, but with a 48-point deficit to joint leaders Zak O’Sullivan and Luke Browning, and only 75 left on the table across the weekend’s triple-header, the Peak Performance Management-backed driver will need a little bit of luck on his side to secure the honours.

Regardless, it has been a silverware-laden campaign for the 17-year old, with two race victories, plus a further 12 podium finishes, contributing to his record-equalling run of nine consecutive trips to the rostrum.

It marks an impressive step up to single-seaters for the London-based racer, who also recently sampled F3 machinery for the first time at Silverstone as the 2019 scholarship recipient evaluates the next steps in his career.

Reflecting ahead of the season finale, Stevenson underlined his aim; to finish the year on a high, and what will be, will be!

“I’m looking forward to the weekend,” said Stevenson.

“I’ve had a pretty consistent season, claiming a podium or two at almost every event and matching the record for nine podiums consecutively, so I’m going to try and round the year off with some great results.

“Currently I have two race wins to my name, it was almost three as I could have had my first at Thruxton, I think I was only 0.1s off! So, it would be a brilliant to claim another win and end, what has been a strange year, on a high!”

Stevenson claimed a hat-trick of points finishes – sixth, sixth again and eighth – in the championship’s previous visit to the iconic Kent circuit in August, but is aiming slightly higher up the field this time around.

“Brands Indy is a fun and unique track, I like it a lot,” he explained.

“It was a slightly tricky race weekend there a few months ago, so fingers crossed I’ll have a bit more luck this time round.

“I’m not too fussed with what weather conditions we get I’ll be happy with whatever, although preferably changeable conditions to spice things up. Anything could happen this weekend, mathematically I could still win the championship, let’s see what transpires!”

Stevenson’s Top 3 Moments of 2020

“My three top moments? The first has to be the win at Silverstone! That was such a great weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“We were having a really strong few days taking second and third in the first two races but winning the third race at the home of British motorsport was a fantastic achievement.

“It was not only my first British F4 win, but also Argenti’s so I’m really happy I finally got the top step of the podium as we’d been so close each weekend.

“Secondly, I’d say double pole at Croft the following weekend. It was great to carry the momentum on from Silverstone and I’d been so close to pole on a number of occasions! That same weekend at Croft I won my second race.

“I’d say that definitely has to be my third highlight of this season, winning the race on live TV was awesome!”
