Carter Williams pleased with results despite minimal testing

Carter Williams underlined his happiness with his results across the 2019 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost season, despite having minimal testing and resources.

The Californian graduated into Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series with race-winning outfit JHR Developments from the BRSCC National FF1600 Championship, translating his early promise into a podium finish on his debut weekend in the category at Brands Hatch in April.

The next three events at Donington Park, Thruxton and Croft proved a little tougher, with consistent points but no silverware for the 21-year old, before a podium return at Oulton Park with third in the reverse-grid contest.

He bounced back after the summer break in a rich vein of form and took a maiden brace of victories on the championships second visit to Thruxton in August, the latter a sublime 1-2 for JHR with team mate Josh Skelton.

Williams would make his now-trademark leap into the air in parc ferme once more, at the very next event – Knockhill – soaking up race-long pressure from eventual vice-champion Sebastian Alvarez in one of the series’ best defensive drives in recent times.

He rounded out the season seventh overall in the standings, with three victories and six podium finishes – a fine reward in Williams’ eyes for the season’s work.

“Overall it was a positive year for me,” said Williams.

“Coming into the championship with very little testing and with the resources we had throughout the year, taking three wins and six podiums, I would say we did a fair job.

“I was happy with the second half of the season more than anything because it showed our true pace fighting at the front.

“I have enjoyed this season in the British F4 and want to thank everyone involved running with championship for their professionalism as well as ITV for the fantastic coverage of the races.

“I also want to thank everyone at JHR for all of their hard work throughout the entire season and congratulate them on a fantastic second place in the teams championship.

“Finally I would like to extend my thank you to my fantastic sponsors, Master Suites Corporate Housing, Packaging Solution, Omni Science, Platinum Property Management, Nixon, Molecule Sports, and Bell Racing, for their support and belief in me.

“I’m working hard to be back in the UK and in Europe for 2020 in some form, and can assure that I will be back stronger and more determined than ever for even better results!”
