- Qualifying continues the weekend’s action at 10:25 BST tomorrow [15th June].
Carlin set the pace in free practice ahead of the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost’s triple header at Croft this weekend [15th-16th June].
Zane Maloney once again topped the timesheets in both sessions, clocking a best time of 1:26.295 around the 2.1-mile Yorkshire circuit, with team-mate Joe Turney just 0.173 seconds adrift.
The pair are currently first and second in the Rookie Cup standings, with Maloney looking to use his double victory last time out at Thruxton to launch himself back into contention for the overall championship.
Best of the rest was Richardson Racing’s Luke Browning – another victor last time out in Hampshire – with the leading Arden duo of Tommy Foster and Bart Horsten rounding out the top five, the former despite a heavy crash at Sunny Out in the second session.
Local hero Josh Skelton (JHR Developments) was sixth quickest, edging out the final Red Arrow – Alex Connor – by two tenths.
Sebastian Alvarez and Roberto Faria led Double R Racing and Fortec Motorsport’s charges respectively in eighth and ninth, with current championship leader Louis Foster tenth after missing the morning session.
Carter Williams was eleventh in the second JHR machine, with Mariano Martinez and Reema Juffali twelfth and thirteenth after incidents in a session apiece.
Competitive action begins with qualifying tomorrow, scheduled to get underway at 10:25 BST.
