Cameron McLeod will complete a capacity four-car line up at Arden Motorsport after agreeing a deal with the team to contest the final three events of the 2021 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost season.
The 16-year-old makes the switch to Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series after some experience in both Formula Ford and tin-tops back home in Australia, and will make his debut at Silverstone this weekend (25-26 September), before further outings at Donington Park and Brands Hatch (GP).
The news marks Arden’s return to a four-car, capacity line up, with McLeod set to join recent arrival Georgi Dimitrov, plus David Morales and Zak Taylor at the ‘Red Arrows’.
“I’m really excited to take this next step in my career and join the F4 British Championship, and with such an established, race-winning team such as Arden Motorsport,” explained McLeod.
“There are few more iconic circuits than Silverstone on which to make my debut, so it’s safe to say I’m feeling pretty positive right now in the lead up to the weekend.
“I’ve been working hard with the team to get myself prepared, but equally I can go in with no expectations and treat it as a learning exercise for the future, there’s no pressure on me.”
Arden’s Team Principal, Garry Horner, welcomed the team’s latest rising star and looks forward to monitoring McLeod’s progress over the remainder of the season.
“It’s a pleasure to be able to welcome Cameron to Arden Motorsport, and we look forward to helping his development as a driver over the remaining three rounds of the season, starting at Silverstone,” added Horner.
“He’s got an excellent team behind him, and three very capable team-mates to draw on for experience and guidance, so the ingredients are there for a positive next step in his career. Best of luck to all our drivers for the weekend ahead.”
