British F4 promoter Sam Roach: “The series is heading in a great direction…”

F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost Promoter Sam Roach has underlined his satisfaction with the positive direction the series is heading in ahead of 2020.

Britain’s FIA-sanctioned Formula 4 category has enjoyed arguably it’s most competitive year in a half-decade of competition; eight drivers have won races, nine have taken podiums, six have claimed a pole position and a quartet of rising stars head to Brands Hatch this weekend in with a mathematical shout of lifting the title.

Interest ahead of 2020 is at an all-time high; the category will announce its first drivers for next year later this week, with the recently-announced Scholarship Assessment Day at Silverstone next month already at capacity.

The championship will also retain its position as the sole single-seater support category on the UK’s premier motorsport package, the British Touring Car Championship.

That means capacity trackside crowds at ten events on the UK’s most challenging venues, along with live, free-to-air TV coverage on ITV4.

“It’s been a fantastic season for the F4 British Championship and I’m pleased to hear reports that our teams are already fast approaching capacity for 2020,” said Roach.

“I think the quality and level of competition in the championship has been evident this season; it’s been really rewarding to see just how well-received this year’s intake of rising stars have been by the motorsport community, and I’m sure we’ll see another thrilling weekend at Brands Hatch to close out the season.

“We launched our inaugural Scholarship shortly before Knockhill and that’s been incredibly well-received – we’re completely booked up and already looking at how we can expand the programme for next year to increase the number of drivers we can accommodate.

“I’m thrilled we’re set to announce our first crop of drivers for next season this week before the last round. We’ve never been in a position to do that before, it’s a great indicator of the direction the series is heading in and we’ve got plenty more exciting news to share in due course.”

The 2019 season concludes at Brands Hatch, Kent, this weekend [12-13 October].
