Bart Horsten and Arden Motorsport ended the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost Media Day atop timesheets after unleashing their pace in the afternoon session.
The Australian put in a best effort of 46.510 seconds around the 1.19-mile Kent circuit in his Ford EcoBoost-powered machine to edge out Richardson Racing’s Luke Browning by two hundredths of a second.
In a remarkable session that saw the top eight split by less than two tenths of a second – highlighting the strength of Ford’s winning formula in 2019 – intermittent rain gave the field another factor in a wet-but-drying track surface to contend with.
Regardless, the field clocked over 550 laps of the Indy circuit, covering some 650 miles in a final bid for all-important track time before the season opener – back at Brands Hatch – on 6th/7th April.
JHR Developments’ Josh Skelton – quickest in the morning – ended a strong day in third, 0.089 seconds further adrift.
Alex Connor and Tommy Foster made it three Arden cars in the top five, putting their ‘Red Arrows’ into fourth and fifth respectively.
Sebastian Alvarez (Double R) and Zane Maloney (Carlin) came next ahead of Louis Foster, with Roberto Faria (Fortec) and Carter Williams (JHR) concluding the top ten.
Fortec’s Mariano Martinez and Double R’s Reema Juffali rounded out the field in eleventh and twelfth.
The teams will now return to base to conclude their testing programmes, with less than a month until lights out at Brands Hatch for another thrilling ten-event, thirty-race season.
