Arden strengthen British F4 outfit with karting star Tommy Foster

  • British karting star joins Ford’s winning formula with defending Teams Champions Arden.
  • Silverware-laden karting career and impressive outings in BRSCC FF1600 have marked Foster out as a potential title contender in 2019.
  • New season begins at Brands Hatch (Indy) over the weekend of 6th-7th

Arden have further strengthened their 2019 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost title push with the addition of British karting star Tommy Foster.

The 16-year old graduates into Britain’s FIA-sanctioned Formula 4 series after a front-running career in British karting, becoming the first driver in history to hold both the Junior and Senior Rotax British Open Championship titles simultaneously in 2018.

That followed a silverware-laden campaign in 2017, with Foster winning the Rotax Festival and representing Great Britain at the Rotax World Finals, in which he marked himself as one to watch by taking pole position against the rest of the world’s rising stars.

He also impressed on his single-seater debut in the BRSCC FF1600 Championship at Anglesey last Autumn, claiming his first race victory in only his third weekend in the category.

He will also become the latest member of the Arden-affiliated Young Racing Driver’s Academy (YRDA), alongside new team-mates Alex Connor and Bart Horsten.

As part of his preparations with the scheme, Foster has already undertaken extensive single-seater testing, simulator and human performance training programmes, all of which contributed to securing a seat with the defending British F4 Teams’ Champions.

“I am delighted to have graduated from karting with the Arden team,” commented Foster.

“I know them very well from my time with the YRDA and am looking forward to enjoying maiden season success in the F4 with them and relish the challenge ahead.”

“We have been monitoring Tommy’s progress for some time and following on from his glittering karting career have been very impressed with his pace and professionalism in testing,” added Arden boss Garry Horner.

“We look forward to seeing him carrying this form into the 2019 F4 Championship as an Arden driver.”

Foster becomes the eighth confirmed driver for Ford’s winning formula in 2019, with the EcoBoost-powered series set to gain momentum in the coming weeks as the clock ticks towards the start of another ten-event, thirty-race season at Brands Hatch over the weekend of 6th-7th April.
