Alex Connor was pleased with his consistency after the Arden Motorsport racer featured at the sharp end of the timesheets on the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost’s return to testing at Snetterton.
Connor, who returns to the Red Arrows for a title push in 2020 after a strong debut season that merited two pole positions, an overall podium and 22 trips to the Rookie rostrum, set the fourth-quickest time across seven hours.
That lap, a 1:52.089, was good enough for second overall in the afternoon, bested only by Zak O’Sullivan’s benchmark, 0.008s ahead around the 2.96-mile Norfolk circuit.
The Brit, who also took his first FIA Formula 4 win out in the UAE over the winter, is now looking ahead to the final pre-season test at Thruxton on Monday, and beyond that the season opener at Donington Park on 01-02 August.
“It was good to be back at Snetterton yesterday for the British F4 test day,” said Connor.
“I managed to stay at, or near, the top of the timesheets for most of the day, which was really good.
“My pace looked quite strong there, so hopefully we’ll have a good race weekend there.”
Connor will assume the defacto role of team leader as the only returnee in a new-look line up for Arden in 2020; his team mates will be Ginetta Junior graduate Roman Bilinski and karting star Frederick Lubin.
