Arden Motorsport’s Alex Connor is looking forward to a challenging weekend at Thruxton as the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost returns to action.
Connor currently sits third outright in the standings, just two markers clear of Argenti Motorsport’s Casper Stevenson behind, after an intense four-event run across August.
Highlights included the Dubai-based Brit’s maiden win in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series at Donington Park, along with a further four podium finishes to date as he gives chase to Luke Browning (Fortec) and Zak O’Sullivan (Carlin) in the points table ahead.
There have been some tougher moments; last-lap contact whilst disputing the win with Browning at Oulton Park will live long in the memory, as well an unlucky tangle with Roberto Faria in the reverse-grid race at Donington.
Despite the ups and downs, Connor now looks ahead with optimism to this weekend’s triple-header around the high-speed, 2.3-mile Hampshire circuit, at which he took five top-ten finishes from six starts in his rookie season, including four class podiums.
“It’s been an intense start to our season and we’ve had great pace but some bad luck along the way,” explains Connor.
“I’m really looking forward to Thruxton as it was a track that I struggled with last year as it requires a lot of physical strength. This year I am stronger and the pre-season test day went well.”
