Arden Motorsport’s Alex Connor set the quickest time of the day in an ultra-competitive final F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost practice session at Brands Hatch.
With the circuit having dried out from the morning’s rain, lap times fell consistently over the first half of the session, with four drivers – Frederick Lubin (Arden), JHR’s James Hedley, Connor and Argenti’s Casper Stevenson – all taking a turn atop the times.
Stevenson then debated top spot with Fortec Motorsport’s Luke Browning, before Connor’s effort of 46.099 on fresh tyres towards the end of the 35-minute session put him 0.021 seconds clear at the head of the field.
Stevenson likewise pipped Browning for second by another 0.029 seconds, with the entire field notably covered by a remarkable 0.6 seconds as the countdown continues to arguably the most important qualifying session of the 2020 season tomorrow morning.
JHR’s Abbi Pulling led team-mate Hedley in fourth and fifth respectively, with current points leader Zak O’Sullivan sixth after a fairly anonymous session.
Lubin was the leading Rookie in seventh, with his fellow Red Arrow Roman Bilinski just behind in eighth.
Carlin duo Christian Mansell – Lubin’s chief rival for the Rookie Cup crown – and Matias Zagazeta completed the top ten, ahead of the second Fortec challenger of Roberto Faria and Argenti’s Reema Juffali.
Qualifying kicks off the weekends competitive action at 11:35 tomorrow [14th Nov].
